The place is a perfect start point for activities and a good time in the wildlife nature. Musk oxDovrefjell is famous for its Musk ox tribe. Every day in summertime you can join the safari trips to see the animals. We can also organise trips in wintertime on special request. In 2007 the tribe was up to 250 animals and move normally around in the Snøhetta area. MooseAround Furuhaugli and Fokstumyra we can very often see these large animals. It's also possible to join guided trips. Early morning or late evenings in July and August is the best time to see the animals. ReindeerDovrefjell is one of the last areas for wild reindeer tribes in Europe. From Furuhaugli we can sometimes see reindeer on the mountains behind the place, or in the horizon towards Svånåtindan or Snøhetta. These areas are both National parks where we are guest in the reindeer kingdom. The animals are very vulnerable, and will flee if it can smell people. If you follow the marked paths, it’s less chance to disturb the reindeer.
FishingIn this region, there is several small lakes with trout or similar. You can also rent boat at these lakes or you can try fishing in the rivers or small streams. Fishing cards can be bought in the reception. HuntingThe mountain in autumn is a magnificent experience. With cold nights and warm days, the mountain is special at this time of the year. During the competitions for hunting dogs on Hjerkinn or Kongsvold, a lot of people choose Furuhaugli for accommodation. We have large good cabins that are perfect for sharing between hunting friends with dogs. Hunting cards can be bought at www.inatur.no.
Ski tracksIn winter time we are connected to a large net of tracks starting in Dombås. In the part that goes in the higher region you will get a spectacle view of the highlands. All these tracks are made by a large track machine to get best quality. There are also smaller tracks made by snow scooter around here. Directly behind the Main house there is a wide open terrain for all levels. If you need Lapp sleigh, we have one for rent. AlpineFor those who want to go slalom, snowboard or telemark, there are possibilities at Dombås or at the international hill in Oppdal. Ski rent is possible at both places. EasterIn the Easter holiday we arrange Furuhaugli Ski Festival for kids and adults, with prizes for all. There are also other activities inside or outside during the week. We have a special menu in the Café where we serve traditional courses with necessary accessories and beverage. On Saturday evening everybody is invited to a party in the living room.
